My last wedding for the 2010 summer wedding season was possibly my biggest. An absolutely gorgeous couple, Deanna and Simon engaged my help around August 2009. They wanted a wedding at Rippon but were cautious about the work involved with it being a marquee.
My involvement was full for their wedding, from organising the stationary, which was designed and produced by the talented Kate Holland of Ruby & Willow, to the de-rig the day after and even organising he shipping of their wedding gifts to London.

Jo & Simon were a delight to work with. Simon was more involved with my communication than Jo, he was clearly an organised chap and possible equally pedantic to me – which I loved! They also had a gorgeous daughter whom took up a lot of their time and were getting married at a venue which had no onsite support or facilities.
I helped organise some hireage saving some money for them and gave them a heap of advice on various aspects of their day. Read the rest of this entry »

Smita and Glenn live in Queenstown and although they had some spare time, they weren’t sure of anything when it came to planning their own wedding, so they called me.
I met with them both at their home at Kelvin Heights and we carried out the consultation. Smita is English with an Indian background and Glenn is a kiwi. They didn’t want the Hindu culture to take over the wedding, but they were keen for it to have some influence.

Laura had been a bridesmaid for a bride whose wedding I helped plan a year earlier and it was great to have a new booking as a result of her experiencing my work. I met Laura and her mum in Wanaka around 18 months prior to her envisaged wedding date to go through the consultation.
Laura and Chris lived in Perth and were really hard to get hold of, so they left me in charge of most things. That said, Laura’s family was extremely talented and creative, so I made use of their offer to help when ever it seemed appropriate.

This was by far one of my most favourite weddings to plan and also one of the loveliest couples I’d ever had the pleasure of working for. Although Leanne and Craig lived in Queenstown, like a lot of couples who engage my services they both had highly demanding jobs and they also travelled a lot for work, so planning their own wedding would have been extremely hard. Plus, whilst they knew what they did and didn’t want, they struggled to execute any decisions on their own.

Another locally based couple, Vicki and David were more than able to plan their own wedding and in a lot of ways, they did. They simply needed some direction, a sounding board and someone to give them confidence with their own decisions. When Vicki first contacted me, I recall she was quite nervous about handing over one of the biggest days of her life to a complete stranger. We spoke at length on that first call, and then after the consultation at their Arrowtown home, she felt reassured that using my service was not going to eliminate any of her involvement or ideas. On the contrary, we worked as a team and during the process we became friends.

Ah! What a gorgeous young couple and one of the loveliest families I’ve ever worked with! Following a recommendation, Tess and Bryce came to meet Fredrik and I with Tess’s parents, Phil and Penny and don’t think I laughed so much as we did at that first meeting. The love and laughter was purely contagious and there were no doubts about why this pair were tying the knot!

I first met Zoe and Tony at Zoe’s parents home at Lake Hayes. It was clear why they both wanted the wedding there, as the views were unsurpassable from the home, overlooking the lake and mountains. I’m just glad that their lounge was able to seat 100 guests – and so was Zoe!
Zoe and Tony got married on the 8th February 2008. Zoe arrived at the ceremony by car, having spent the morning at Millbrook where she got ready with her bridesmaids.
