They simply needed some direction, a sounding board and someone to give them confidence with their own decisions. When Vicki first contacted me, I recall she was quite nervous about handing over one of the biggest days of her life to a complete stranger. We spoke at length on that first call, and then after the consultation at their Arrowtown home, she felt reassured that using my service was not going to eliminate any of her involvement or ideas. On the contrary, we worked as a team and during the process we became friends.
They had thought about a few venues, and after much consideration on their own and with my input, they chose Mt Soho for their reception. They had however always known that the ceremony was to be held at a special location to them, an outdoor location which had views overlooking the whole of Arrowtown and Queenstown! I helped them navigate through the options for caterers, florists, stationary designers and photographers, and they certainly picked the best ones!
Vicki and David were married on the 3rd January 2009 by Jools MacKnight. As it was Vicki’s second wedding, she opted to wear a silver blue dress which lead the way for the key colours, blue and silver. Keen photographers themselves, their favours were photo blocks made by Larsson Photography of close up landscape shots. Toi Toi’s played a part in the floral arrangements which were minimal. As the ceremony site had such dynamic views, they opted not to use a helicopter for photos and rather enjoyed a photo session by the lake on route to Mt Soho, where they re-joined guests for pre dinner drinks and canapés.
This was an intimate wedding of approx 50 guests and they all let their hair down at the end of the meal, to local band After Duo.
